Have you been searching for a way to increase your vertical leap and found that experts say that plyometric workouts are the most effective way to jump higher? The results that come from them are pretty impressive, but you may not know how to get the most from them.
Well I am here to help. I understand how you feel. It can be somewhat confusing and overwhelming.
Over the years I have determined to discover the best way to apply plyometric principles and exercises into my own programs to improve my vertical leap. I couldn't believe the improvements when I finally figured it out.
I was amazed at how quickly my agility and jumping ability improved. The best part was seeing the look on my competition's face when I left them in the dust. They weren’t laughing at me anymore.
At this point, you may be wondering why plyometric workouts are so effective. That's a good question.
Plyometric workouts tap in to your body's ability to rapidly generate power and make it more efficient. There is a built in physiological secret that allows muscles to generate this power quickly. But it must be developed to achieve maximum results.
Do you want to know the secret?
It's called the stretch shortening cycle. Your muscles are able to briefly store energy by quickly stretching before contracting. Think of a rubber band that has been stretched. A certain amount of energy is stored until it is released and the rubber band returns to its original length.
Your muscles have that same potential.
A rapid stretch in a muscle just before a forceful contraction releases that stored energy to produce a powerful vertical or lateral movement.
Plyometrics will not necessarily allow you contract a muscle any faster. What it does is strengthen the contraction that results from the quick stretch. This allows you to literally explode off of the ground.
You will be jumping higher and change directions much more quickly.
You will no longer be the slowest athlete on the court as long as you tap in to an effective plyometric program. You will be able to jump higher than you ever thought possible.
In summary, effective plyometric workouts train the stretch shortening cycle which will improve your agility and vertical jump.
